Frank Sartor and the Iemma Govt. get a big tick from Raise the Bar.

In an exciting move from the NSW Government, Planning Minister Frank Sartor has signed off on new laws designed to put more live entertainment back into NSW licensed premises.

" We recognise live music has an important place in our culture and have taken steps to iron out some inefficiencies in the planning system, to support the industry"  Minister Sartor said

"As a practitioner who has observed the gradual diminution of live music over the last 10 years with some regret, I congratulate you for making meaningful reforms which I have no doubt will reverse that trend"

Craig Scott, Chair of Jazz Studies, Sydney Conservatorium of Music

"For ground floor rooms up to 300 people, what previously  took 2 D.A.'s  to put some live entertainment on is now a checklist with a one week  turnaround- WOW! "

Musician John Wardle, who has spoken out against over regulation

In talking with many of my colleagues regarding the new laws over the past weekend, I must report that there appears to be a groundswell of renewed faith in the “powers that be” in this state.
